A Modern House project here in our Region
A project by Gregory La Vardera Architect, DVM member/organizer (or lack of organizer!). This house is a near complete tear down and reinvention of an existing house creating what he has come to call “MoTrad” - a mix of modern design and traditional form. In this case the owner desired the house to be a good neighbor on this suburban street, but have a distinct modern aesthetic which became more dominant at the rear of the house.
The house is in its last phase of construction, finishes have begun. Would DVM members care to lobby the owner for a tour date when the house is complete? Contact Greg if so.

This classic midcentury modern house in Lambertville is for sale.
“In 1961 Architectural Record listed this house, designed and built by the architect Jules Gregory as his own residence, as one of America’s “10 Best Houses.” The undulating appearance of its roofline is a result of its double conoid design — something that from a distance gives the impression of enormous wings.”

DVM member home still on market
DVM member Lawrence O’toole has his home on the market in Philadelphia. It is a modern refurb of a pair of adjacent townhouses in the Fishtown neighborhood. It really is a fantatic living situation for the city. Its a double townhouse on a triple lot. So it has an enormous garden behind it,…

Another really sweet mid-century modern home. This one was on the home tour last year.
Classic open floor plan mid-century modern home designed by noted architect Irving Maitin in 1953 for his family. This home is close to the city yet surrounded in complete privacy, nestled onto a wooded slope and overlooking a stream. The striking views from the large open living areas give the feeling of gently floating in the treetops. Maitin has said the design is straight-forward with simplicity as its essence. There is a wonderful enclosed porch and backyard pool.
Another great modern house here in the Delaware Valley:

DVM member home on market

DVM member Lawrence O’toole has his home on the market in Philadelphia. It is a modern refurb of a pair of adjacent townhouses in the Fishtown neighborhood. It really is a fantatic living situation for the city. Its a double townhouse on a triple lot. So it has an enormous garden behind it, and a large two car garage that passes all the way through to the garden. And it has a second outdoor gated parking area. Really a lot of space for a Philadelphia row house dwelling. The interior is completely contemporary with lots of light and access to the garden.
